Basny combines the tradition of Ukrainian weaving and the visual perspective of the present. The creative freedom of the imagery, the production technique, and the natural environment in which the artisans work shape the character of each piece.

Basny was founded in 2016, as a result of a long-term interaction with the local craft of rug making and the urge to employ it in a new realm. The visuals on the rugs are developed by the brand's team alongside contributing artists and designers — graphic elements that are open to interpretation, marks of reflection and pure artistic intent. Basny establishes a setting where art, tradition, and application no longer stand apart. Contemporary visual language and archaic, regional craft meet in the interior space.

A Basny rug is a classic textile item, woven from sheep's wool. In the Hutsul locality, this type of rug is called lizhnyk and has remained part of daily life and ritual. Basny continues this practice — bringing these objects to the wider world through art exhibitions, and making them integral parts of personal worlds within a home environment.
